A.J. DiCintio is a columnist with The New Media Journal.us.

According to his New Media Journal profile, DiCintio "first exercised his polemical skills arguing with friends on the street corners of the working class neighborhood where he grew up. Retired from teaching, he now applies those skills, somewhat honed and polished by experience, to social/political affairs and thanks MichNews, where he is a contributor, for providing him his first opportunity to publish.

"To his writing, Mr. DiCintio brings an enduring respect for a legacy left to him by his parents and his neighborhood, a legacy inherited by virtually all Americans: the idea that decisions about public policy, just as personal decisions, must be made in accordance with the dictates of morality and the realities of human nature.

"It is our duty, he believes, to embrace that legacy because denying it joins us with those who make a religion of politics and gods of politicians and thus dooms us to the despotism Franklin spoke of when he warned of a time 'when the people shall become so corrupted as to need despotic government.'"
