Background on Plant

Anhui Hwasu power station is a two-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 600 MW in Anhui Province. The plant was completed in 2012, though it only received its EIA clearance and DRC permit in 2015.[1]

It was built as a captive CHP power plant to supply power and heat to the first phase of Anhui Hwuasu Co.' s PVC project, which went operation in 2013.[2][3]

Proposed expansion

The second phase of Anhui Hwuasu Co.'s PVC project is reportedly starting construction in Nov 2016. It would include an additional 3 coal-burning units of 300MW each.[4] However, no EIA information about the second phase of the PVC project and its captive power plant can be found publicly.

Company ownership

Anhui Hwuasu is a chemical company, owned by Huaibei Coal Mining Group and 4 other companies.[4]
