As Pontes power station is a four-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 1,468.5 MW. The plant was completed between 1976 and 1979, and is owned by Enel. According to Industcards, the Pontes plant has been converted to run on imported coal only, as local lignite reserves have declined.[1]
