Care for Energy and Environment Society
Care for Energy and Environment Society (CEES) is a group supporting proposals by the Indonesian Minister for Research and Technology, Kusmayanto Kadiman, who has optimistically proclaimed that the government would build four 1,2000 megawatt nuclear power stations in the next 17 years.
In May 2008 the chairman of CEES, Budi Sudarsono, said "Nuclear power is probably, at the moment, the cheapest form of electricity production ... Oil started to rise in price from the beginning of 2004, from about $30 a barrel, and now it’s about $100….In just a few years the price of coal has also [increased]. At the moment, nuclear is the cheapest option, provided you can build it quickly."
