Background on Plant

The two existing coal-fired units of Datang Xinyu-1 power station, totaling 440 MW, were brought online between 1995 and 1996. The plant is owned by China Datang.[1]

Proposed expansion

Datang is currently planning to build the two-unit coal-fired Datang Xinyu-2 power station, with a total planned capacity of 2,000 MW.[1] It was permitted for construction in 2015.[2]

As of May 2018, Planet satellite photos from April 2018 show no construction. The projects appears to be cancelled.
