Derrick Max

Derrick Max is executive director of the Alliance for Worker Retirement Security (AWRS) and the Coalition for the Modernization and Protection of America's Social Security (COMPASS). Both are U.S. based group advocating the privatization of Social Security and are supported by the Business Roundtable, the National Association of Manufacturers and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Before replacing Chuck Blahous at AWRS, Max worked as director of government affairs at the Cato Institute for three years where, according to a biographical note, "he was instrumental in helping to advance Cato's presence in the national debate on Social Security reform." [1]

Prior to Cato, Max worked as a speechwriter and policy analyst for Senator Tim Hutchinson. This followed a four year stint as a staff member and economist for the Committee on Education and the Workforce, U.S. House of Representatives. Max's other previous work includes serving as a research assistant in economic policy at the American Enterprise Institute.
