"Prior to joining the African Development Bank, Kaberuka was Minister of Finance and Economic Planning for eight years (1997-2005) leading the economic team within the Government of Rwanda. In that capacity he served as Governor for Rwanda for the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. He was a Hauser Leader in Residence within the Center for Public Leadership at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University (2015 – 2017). He currently serves on the Board of the Rockefeller Foundation, the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, the Centre for Global Development and is a Senior Adviser to the global Private Equity firm, TPG-Satya, promoting investment on the African Continent. He received his PhD in economics from the University of Glasgow.
"In January 2016, Kaberuka was appointed African Union (AU) High Representative for Financing of the Union and the Peace Fund. He is a member of the Pan-African Advisory Team on African Union Reforms. Kaberuka also co-chairs the London School of Economics-Oxford Commission on State Fragility, Growth and Development with David Cameron, chairs the High-Level Panel for The External Evaluation of the Independent Evaluation Office of the IMF and is a Member of the Global Leadership Foundation. Since October 2017, Kaberuka is the Chairman and Managing Partner of SouthBridge Group."

Dr. Kaberuka was most recently the President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), responsible for reducing poverty in Africa through spurring sustainable economic development and social progress in 54 member countries, with an authorized capital in excess of $43.5 billion. He was elected in 2005, becoming the bank’s seventh President, and serving two terms...Before joining AfDB, Dr. Kaberuka had a distinguished career in banking, international trade and development and government service. A national of Rwanda, he was the country’s Minister of Finance and Economic Planning between 1997 and 2005. Dr. Kaberuka was educated at universities in Tanzania and Scotland. He holds a PhD in Economics from Glasgow University." 
Donald Kaberuka became Chair of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria "in May 2019. Dr. Kaberuka was president of the African Development Bank and chairman of its board of directors from 2005-2015. Prior to that he was finance minister of Rwanda from 1997-2005, during which he also served as governor for Rwanda for the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank."
