Background

Durban Coal Terminal (Pty) Ltd is a specialized bulk handling terminal at the Port of Durban's Bluff facility. The terminal features a loading facility for bulk coal operated by Bulk Connections (a division of the Bidvest Group). According to World Port Source, the terminal has a capacity for 250,000 tons of coal [2], although the Bulk Connections company website only reports annual exports of 52,000 tons. [3] The coal exported here comes from mines in Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal, Free State. [4]
