Biographical Information

Haydn Biddle was appointed Chair of the University of Lincoln's "Board of Governors with effect from 1 August 2012, having been an Independent Member of the Board since August 2010. He is a member of the Remuneration Committee and also of the Board’s FE Oversight Group.

"Haydn has a longstanding interest in education and training. He has been Deputy Chairman of the East Midlands Development Agency, Deputy Chairman and Pro Chancellor of Northumbria University, Chairman of a regional FEC Committee, Chairman of Business Link Lincolnshire, Chairman of Tyneside TEC, as well as having sat on the East Midlands Learning & Skills Council.

"Haydn has extensive experience of retailing, wholesaling and production. He worked in a variety of sales and marketing positions with Procter & Gamble and then became Marketing Director of Scottish & Newcastle’s beer business. During his eight years with this company he was variously responsible for International Operations, was MD of William Youngers Ltd, Chairman of William Youngers (Yorkshire) Ltd and MD of Newcastle Breweries Limited. He is currently Chairman of George Bateman & Son Ltd, brewers and retailers, having previously been Chief Executive.

"He holds or has held Non-Executive Directorships with J.D. Wetherspoon, Bullman Pub Company Ltd, Boston, Investors in Lincoln, Lincolnshire TEC, the Newcastle Initiative, Newcastle Enterprise Trust, and the East Midlands Urban Development Fund; is a Governor of First College; and a Board member of M. I. Dickson Ltd and the Lincoln Science and Innovation Park." [1]
