Garvey was the 14th Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), nominated by President Clinton and confirmed by the Senate in August 1997. Prior to becoming FAA Administrator, Garvey was Acting Administrator and previously Deputy Administrator of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
