Libertarianism, through its philosophy of limited government, provide a unique lens when viewing environmental issues.
Ernest Partridge, a "researcher, lecturer, consultant in Applied Ethics and Environmental Ethics" and the co-editor of The Crisis Papers Web site, has argued that "libertarian doctrine" has failed "to deal appropriately with environmental problems."
Meanwhile, a political movement combining the "the environmental platform from the U.S. Green Party and the civil liberties platform of the U.S. Libertarian Party, has come to be known as Green libertarianism, and attempts to consolidate socially progressive values with economic conservatism.
