Mahmoud Fahmy Fathalla
Mahmoud Fahmy Fathalla, MD, PhD, "is professor of obstetrics and gynecology and former dean of the medical school, Assiut University in Egypt. He currently serves as chairman of the WHO Global Advisory Committee on Health Research. His former positions include director of the UNDP/UNFPA/WHO/World Bank Special Programme of Research, Development and Research Training in Human Reproduction; senior advisor for Biomedical and Reproductive Health Research at The Rockefeller Foundation; president of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO); and chairman of the International Medical Advisory Panel of the International Planned Parenthood Federation. Dr. Fathalla has authored more than 150 scientific publications, including the books From Obstetrics and Gynecology to Women’s Health—The Road Ahead and Reproductive Health and Human Rights—Integrating Medicine, Ethics and Law (coauthor). He also edited the first “World Report on Women’s Health” in 1994, and coedited the FIGO Teaching Manual in Human Reproduction. Dr. Fathalla is the chair of PATH’s board of directors."
