"Ruth served as the founding Chief Executive of the Tony Blair Faith Foundation from 2007 until April 2013. She is a trustee of the Tony Blair Sports Foundation, and a Council member of Salford University. Ruth joined the Prime Minister's Office in May 2005 as Director of Government Relations, and worked for Tony Blair until he left government. Prior to that, Ruth spent 13 years as an award-winning social entrepreneur, including as co-founder and chairman of The Big Issue in the North. Amongst other roles, she was an independent non-executive director of the Places for People group; co-founder of research company Vision 21; a board member of environmental charity Sustainability North West Ltd; an Investment Committee member for the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts; and a founding trustee of the United Utilities Trust Fund."
