Sir Michael Savory
Sir Michael Savory, "a former Lord Mayor of the City of London, ascribes his interest in tanks and other fighting vehicles to being “a stockbroker who by instinct would have liked to be an engineer”. Sir Michael is the co-founder of the Muckleburgh Collection: 300 tanks, guns and other items of hardware kept at the former Weybourne military camp on the north Norfolk coast."
"Michael Savory was elected to Common Council in 1980 and an Alderman in 1996. He was a Sheriff in 2001-02 and Lord Mayor in 2004-05. He has served on most of the Committees and is currently Deputy Chairman of The Standards Committee which oversees the conduct of Members and the operation of the Employee Code of Conduct.
"He was a City stockbroker for forty years, has been master of two livery companies and on the council of a number of national charities and has had and maintains a great interest in the Information Technologists' Company. He is now Chief Executive of Young Enterprise UK which provides enterprise education to schools throughout the country and also the Honorary Colonel of The London Regiment.
"Michael is renowned in the City for being the only person to have had a large array of his personal military tanks parading in the Lord Mayor's Show."
