Souls in Stride
Souls in Stride’s "vision is to inspire women in various communities to form groups and organize events that embody our objective of raising awareness and funds to help women in Africa. We encourage these communities of women to get directly involved. Open your hearts, become a part of Souls in Stride and extend a helping hand as one community of women walking alongside another in war-torn DR Congo."
"Deborah Woodley and Amanda Halliday founded Souls in Stride in June 2004, after hearing about the horror of women being raped and in need of fistula surgery in DRC. At that time, HEAL Africa (then called DOCS) had started doing fistula surgery but were in desperate need of funding. As we were both training to run a half marathon, we decided to use our run as an opportunity to fundraise for fistula surgery and develop awareness of the plight of these women."
"All funds raised by Souls in Stride have been directed to HEAL Africa and its programs, most specifically its “Heal my People” program. SIS works closely with Dick Anderson, Executive Director of Heal Africa and his wife Judy, as well as with Lyn Lusi, Program Manager of HEAL Africa."
