Teivo Teivainen "is Professor of World Politics and Head of the Political Science Department at the University of Helsinki as well as Director of the Program on Democracy and Global Transformation at the San Marcos University in Lima, Peru. Among his recent activities, during 2005-06 he was the International Political Economy Section Chair of the International Studies Association (ISA) and member of the ISA’s Governing Council, as well as Distinguished Visiting Professor of Development Studies at Saint Mary’s University in Canada during the second half of 2005. In 2005-06 he also chaired Network Institute for Global Democratization ( www.nigd.org ), and on behalf of NIGD he is a founding member of the International Council of the World Social Forum.
