Background on Project

Qingdao Antaixin Group is a proposed captive power station of 8 x 350 MW units in Dongmaidi Village. Units 1-2 began operating in 2012.[1]

Units 3-4 began operating in 2015.[2][3]

Units 3-4 shut down - then quickly restarted

In April 2017 the government halted three aluminum projects in Changji, due to a lack of permits. Units 3-4 of Xinjiang Jiarun power station were shut down as a result.[4]

However, time lapse satellite imagery from Planet shows the units were operating again by October 2017.

Proposed expansion

Units 5-8 are seeking permitting.[2]

2016: Nationwide Restrictions Imposed on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity

Due to new restrictions announced during 2016 by the National Energy Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission, further capacity expansions at this location appear to be on hold or cancelled. For details, see China's 2016 Restrictions on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity.

Proposed units 5-8 are therefore likely shelved.
